Boilers
Boilers are pressurised vessels whereby heat generated through combustion is transferred into water to produce hot steam. Boilers can be found both domestically in the central heating system and in industry. Industrial boilers can generate electrical power with increased efficiency and minimised emissions. This high efficiency means the service temperatures are also very high, which requires the essential use of refractory materials to build and insulate each industrial boiler.
Domestic Boilers
Domestic boilers are generally used for central heating purposes and to generate hot water, and usually these two functions are carried out in combination. The average output of a domestic boiler is around 25 kilo watts.
Commercial & Industrial Boilers
Industrial boilers are used for a variety of purposes such as generating electricity. There are also commercial boilers which are used in e.g. warehouses, offices or universities, due to the need for a larger output of power. Both commercial and industrial boilers have a significantly higher output than domestic boilers, which ranges from 250 kilo watts up to 1500 kilo watts.
