What should I use to line the recess of my chimney breast around a free standing stove?

On to brick work or block work we would recommend using our Fireplace Render to a thickness of 12mm. For a smoother finish you can then use our Heat Resistant Plaster to a thickness of approximately 3-6mm. Vitcas PVA Adhesive Sealer must be used, firstly, onto the brick or block work and then onto the Vitcas Fireplace Render before using the Vitcas Heat Resistant Plaster.

Vitcas High Temperature Plasterboard or Vitcas Vermiculite Board can also be used in this application as long as they are being fixed to a solid wall with no voids behind. You should also check with the stove manufacturer the recommended distance the stove should be from a non-combustible material. If the boards are placed too close they are likely to crack. Every stove is different so this is something which the manufacturer of your stove can advise you on.

Vitcas High Temperature Plasterboard can be fixed to the wall using normal screws or by the dot and dab method using our Vitcas HB60 Adhesive. Vitcas Vermiculite Board can also be fixed using the Vitcas HB60 Adhesive, or alternatively, can be fixed using Vitcas Insulation Fixings.

For decoration Vitcas Fireplace Render and Heat Resistant Plaster can be painted with emulsion paint. If using High Temperature the smooth side can be painted directly with emulsion paint or the rough side can be plastered using Vitcas Heat Resistant Plaster and then painted with emulsion paint. Vitcas Vermiculite Board can be painted with Vitcas Heat Resistant Paint.
