VITCAS Silcas A - Air Setting Ready Mixed Refractory Mortar. High temperature resistance to 1400°C. Ideal for jointing and setting fire bricks in, for example, kilns and furnaces.
VITCAS Silcas A- Refractory Mortar is a smooth, ready mixed refractory mortar that is perfect for setting and jointing fire bricks. This mortar has a high-temperature rating of 1400°C /2550°F, making it an excellent choice for use in kilns, furnaces, and other high-temperature applications.
Applications:
Kiln and furnace side walls: Silcas A is perfect for constructing kiln and furnace side walls, whether using pre-cast shapes or conventional bricks.
Furnace roofs: This mortar is also ideal for constructing furnace roofs using arch bricks.
Kiln car bases and decks: In the brick industry, Silcas A is frequently used on kiln car bases and decks.
General repair work: Silcas A is an excellent choice for general repair work, such as the installation of peep-hole blocks and thermocouple tubes.
Instructions:
Surface preparation: Ensure that the surfaces to be bonded are clean and dry before applying Silcas A. Any loose debris, dirt, or grease should be removed using a wire brush or other suitable tool.
Mixing: Silcas A is ready-mixed and does not require any additional mixing. However, if the mortar has been standing for some time, it may need to be stirred before use to ensure that it is well-mixed.
Application: Using a trowel, apply Silcas A to the surfaces that need to be bonded. The mortar should be applied in a smooth, even layer, with enough pressure to ensure good adhesion.
Curing: Silcas A will cure naturally at room temperature, but for best results, it should be allowed to dry for 24 hours before exposing it to high temperatures. After that, the mortar can be fired to the desired temperature.
Note: Silcas A should be stored in a cool, dry place and kept in its original container with the lid tightly closed to prevent it from drying out.
