Vitcas Black Glass Tape Pack with Adhesive Backing

Vitcas Black Fibreglass Self-Adhesive Tape, 2 metres in length, is specifically designed for high-temperature insulation applications. This tape provides a convenient self-adhesive backing, simplifying the installation process by holding the tape in place during assembly. For long-term stability, it's recommended to use it in combination with Vitcas Rope Adhesive or other mechanical means to ensure a permanent seal.

Key Features:

  • Colour: Black for discreet use with metalwork or black appliances.
  • Heat Resistance: Withstands up to 550°C / 1020°F and short-term to 600°C / 1112°F
  • Self-Adhesive Backing: Eases initial application but is intended as a temporary fixing aid. The adhesive withstands temperatures up to 180°C / 356°F before degrading, but by that point, the glass fibre tape will already be secured by screws, other mechanical fasteners, or Vitcas Rope Adhesive.

Applications:

  • Insulating pipework, metalwork, and boilers in high-temperature environments.
  • Effective in stove glass, furnaces, and industrial heating systems where thermal resistance and easy application are required.

Product Q&A

Question
Why choose black tape for a stove or appliance?
Answer
The black finish is designed to blend discreetly with black appliances and metalwork, making the tape less noticeable after installation. It is useful where white sealing or insulation tape would stand out visually. The colour does not change the fitting requirements, so the tape must still be secured appropriately for long-term use.
Question
Is the self-adhesive backing a permanent fixing?
Answer
The self-adhesive backing is intended to hold the tape in position during assembly rather than provide a permanent high-temperature fixing. For long-term stability, secure the tape with VITCAS RA Rope Adhesive, screws or another suitable mechanical fastening method, depending on the installation.
Question
What happens to the adhesive backing above 180°C?
Answer
The self-adhesive backing withstands temperatures up to 180°C before it begins to degrade. The fibreglass tape can tolerate much higher temperatures, but it must already be held securely by VITCAS RA Rope Adhesive or suitable mechanical fasteners. Do not rely on the self-adhesive backing alone in higher-temperature installations.
Question
How can I stop the tape moving after installation?
Answer
Use the self-adhesive backing to position the tape during assembly, then provide a permanent fixing with VITCAS RA Rope Adhesive or suitable mechanical fasteners. This is particularly important where the installation will exceed the backing’s 180°C temperature limit or where movement could loosen an unsupported section.
Question
Can black self-adhesive glass tape be used around stove glass?
Answer
Yes. The VITCAS Black Fiberglass Self-Adhesive Tape is suitable for high-temperature insulation around stove glass where its dimensions and temperature limits meet the appliance requirements. Its black colour helps it blend with dark stove doors and frames. Use the backing for initial positioning and provide a suitable permanent fixing where required.
Question
Can the self-adhesive glass tape insulate hot metalwork and pipework?
Answer
Yes. The fibreglass self-adhesive tape is suitable for insulating compatible pipework, metalwork and boilers in high-temperature environments. Confirm that the surface temperature remains within the continuous limit of 550°C and secure the tape appropriately rather than relying solely on its temporary self-adhesive backing.
