Remove the old gasket and clean the contact surfaces thoroughly before applying the replacement tape.

Do I need additional adhesive to fit the tape?

The self-adhesive backing makes the tape easier to position during installation. However, it provides a temporary fixing and has a lower temperature limit than the glass fibre material. VITCAS RA Rope Adhesive is recommended where the installation requires a stronger and longer-lasting bond.

How do I replace the gasket around stove glass?
Answer
Carefully remove the stove glass by releasing its screws or retaining clips. Remove the old gasket and clean the edges of the glass and the door frame thoroughly. Peel away the backing, apply the self-adhesive tape around the glass edges for a snug fit, then reinstall the glass and secure it with the original clips or screws.

Why is the new tape not sticking properly?
Answer
Soot, dust, grease, old gasket material or adhesive residue can prevent the self-adhesive backing from gripping properly. Clean the glass edges and door frame thoroughly and make sure both surfaces are dry. Press the tape firmly into position without leaving folds, bubbles or loose sections.
