Polyurethane (PU) Coated Cloth - Fire & Smoke fabric
Vitcas Polyurethane (PU) Coated Cloth is a specialised high-performance Fire & Smoke fabric engineered for superior gas impermeability while maintaining light transmission. The cloth is coated with a specially formulated polyurethane, micronised aluminium-filled polymer, providing a heat-reflective surface and maintaining low air permeability at elevated temperatures. This advanced, halogen-free and fire-resistant material is designed to withstand extreme temperatures of up to 550°C (1020°F) in continuous operation and 600°C (1110°F) during short-term exposure, ensuring robust and reliable performance in critical applications.
Key Features:
Gas Impermeability: The polyurethane coating, integrated with the aluminium-filled polymer, ensures the fabric is completely impermeable to gases, making it indispensable in fire safety and emergency applications, while allowing light to penetrate for operational visibility.
Halogen-Free & Non-Toxic: Manufactured without halogens, the fabric is non-toxic and non-irritating, ensuring safe usage in various sensitive environments.
Fire Resistance: Classified according to BS EN 13501-1:2018 as B-s1, d0. The PU Cloth is manufactured from high-quality glass fibre with a durable polyurethane coating, provides excellent resistance to fire, heat and smoke, with very limited smoke production (s1) and no flaming droplets (d0).
Thermal Stability: The cloth exhibits continuous temperature resistance up to 550°C (1020°F) and can endure 600°C (1110°F) for short bursts, making it suitable for use in extreme thermal environments.
Enhanced Durability: The PU coating is resistant to 180°C (360°F) and significantly increases the fabric's resistance to abrasion, punctures, and mechanical wear, offering prolonged service life in demanding conditions.
Applications:
Firefighting: Utilised extensively in firefighting equipment for fire, heat, and smoke protection, safeguarding both personnel and critical equipment.
Automotive Industry: Applied in thermal insulation, soundproofing and fireproofing of vehicles, offering a durable solution that meets safety and performance standards.
Aerospace: Used as thermal insulation and structural reinforcement in aircraft components, where lightweight materials with high heat tolerance are essential.
Industrial Manufacturing: Ideal for heat-resistant curtains, welding blankets, and protective barriers against sparks, molten metal, and high temperatures in industrial settings.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Integrated into fire-resistant garments such as gloves, aprons, and overalls to protect workers in hazardous environments.
Electrical Insulation: Provides insulation for electrical cables and wires, protecting them from fire risks and high heat in industrial and commercial applications.
Construction: Deployed in fireproof curtains, partitions, and protective coatings within construction projects to meet fire safety regulations.
Marine Industry: Utilised in shipbuilding and insulation systems, providing essential fire resistance and safeguarding against fire hazards and smoke infiltration in engine rooms, bulkheads, and control systems.
Medical Sector: Incorporated into the production of fire-resistant surgical drapes, gowns, and other medical textiles, ensuring compliance with safety standards in healthcare settings.
Motorsports: Utilised in fire-resistant gear for motorsports, offering critical protection and safety in extreme heat and high-risk racing conditions.
