Leak Sealer - Internal Central Heating Leak Repair

Vitcas Leak Sealer is a high-performance internal sealing solution designed for repairing and sealing small, inaccessible leaks and weeping joints in sealed, fully indirect central heating systems. It prevents pressure loss in the primary circuit and eliminates the need for costly repair work or system drain-down. The advanced formulation circulates freely without blocking pumps, valves, or automatic air vents.

Compatible with all standard water treatment chemicals, including corrosion inhibitors, and suitable for mixed-metal systems including aluminium. Once added to the system, it forms a soft and durable internal seal within 1 to 24 hours.

Key Features

  • Internally seals minor leaks and weeping joints, helping to reduce pressure loss in sealed central heating systems

  • Non-blocking formulation that is safe for pumps, valves, and automatic air vents

  • Forms a soft, durable seal within 1-24 hours and remains active in the system-no flushing required

  • Suitable for use in mixed-metal systems, including those containing aluminium

  • Fully compatible with all standard central heating water treatment products

  • Intended for use only in fully indirect central heating systems

Not suitable for PRIMATIC single-feed cylinders

For comprehensive system protection, use in conjunction with Vitcas Central Heating Inhibitor.

Dosage: 1 litre of liquid or 1 cartridge (310ml concentrate) treats up to 100 litres of system water, equivalent to approximately 10 standard radiators.

Application Instructions - Liquid Form

Preventative Use

  1. Locate the central heating feed and expansion cistern
  2. Shake the bottle thoroughly
  3. Pour the entire contents into the cistern
  4. Vitcas Leak Sealer will circulate within the system and provide full effect within 1 to 6 weeks

Emergency Use

  1. Turn off the boiler and circulation pump
  2. Locate a radiator fitted with a drain cock
  3. Close both radiator valves and drain off approximately 2 litres of system water
  4. Remove the blanking plug from the top of the radiator
  5. Shake the bottle and pour the entire contents into the radiator using a funnel
  6. Replace the plug, open both radiator valves, and bleed the radiator to remove any trapped air
  7. Restart the boiler and pump

Application Instructions - Concentrate

  1. Close both valves on a radiator and remove the bleed screw using a radiator vent key
  2. Insert the supplied plastic adaptor into the bleed opening and turn clockwise to create a tight fit; trim the adaptor if needed using a craft knife
  3. Cut off the domed end of the cartridge and attach it to the adaptor using a standard cartridge gun
  4. Open one radiator valve and inject the entire contents of the cartridge
  5. Close the valve, remove the adaptor, and replace the bleed screw
  6. Open both radiator valves and bleed the radiator to remove any air

Vitcas Leak Sealer remains active in the system and does not require flushing. It has been specifically formulated not to cause blockages, while effectively sealing pressure-losing micro-leaks in heating systems.

Product Q&A

Question
Can this sealer repair hidden central heating leaks?
Answer
VITCAS Central Heating Leak Sealer is designed to seal small, inaccessible leaks and weeping joints from inside the system. It circulates with the system water and forms a soft, durable seal, helping to prevent pressure loss without draining down the complete installation. It is intended for minor leaks rather than as a substitute for repairing major system damage.
Question
Will the leak sealer block pumps or radiator valves?
Answer
The non-blocking formulation circulates freely through the heating system and is designed not to obstruct pumps, valves or automatic air vents. This allows it to reach small, inaccessible leaks while remaining active within the system. Use the stated dosage for the system capacity rather than adding excess product.
Question
Can it be used in heating systems containing aluminium?
Answer
The treatment is suitable for mixed-metal central heating systems, including installations containing aluminium. It is also compatible with standard central heating water-treatment chemicals, including corrosion inhibitors. This allows a minor internal leak to be treated without removing the existing inhibitor from a compatible, fully indirect system.
Question
How much leak sealer does my system require?
Answer
One litre of liquid leak sealer treats up to 100 litres of system water, equivalent to approximately ten standard radiators. Larger systems may require additional product. Calculate the dose from the total system-water capacity where possible, particularly when radiators or pipework are unusually large.
Question
How quickly does the internal leak sealer work?
Answer
Once added, the formulation can create a soft, durable internal seal within 1 to 24 hours. For preventative application through the feed and expansion cistern, the official instructions state that full effect is achieved within 1 to 6 weeks. Keep the heating system operating correctly and monitor whether pressure loss continues.
Question
How is liquid leak sealer added in an emergency?
Answer
Switch off the boiler and circulation pump, then select a radiator fitted with a drain cock. Close both valves, drain approximately two litres of system water and remove the upper blanking plug. Shake the bottle, pour in the complete contents through a funnel, replace the plug, reopen the valves, bleed the radiator and restart the system.
Question
Does the leak sealer need flushing out afterwards?
Answer
The sealer remains active within the central heating system and does not require flushing after application. Its lasting presence helps maintain the internal seal while remaining compatible with standard water-treatment products. For wider protection against corrosion, sludge and limescale, the treated system can also contain the appropriate VITCAS Central Heating Inhibitor.
