Vitcas Central Heating System Cleaner is a powerful chemical treatment formulated to clean central heating systems by removing commissioning residues, flux deposits, limescale, and accumulated sludge. It is ideal for both new installations and older systems suffering from poor circulation or cold spots in radiators. It is recommended before adding a corrosion inhibitor and is especially important when components are replaced or systems are extended.
The cleaner is compatible with all common system materials, including micro-bore pipework, plastic header tanks, and all metal types used in heating circuits, including aluminium. Suitable for fully indirect systems only.
Removes sludge, flux, limescale, and installation debris
Restores circulation and improves heat transfer efficiency
Essential for system commissioning, component replacement, or system extensions
Compatible with all metals, including aluminium
Safe for plastic tanks and micro-bore pipework
For use in fully indirect systems only
Not suitable for PRIMATIC single-feed cylinders
For ongoing protection, flush the system after cleaning and treat with Vitcas Central Heating Inhibitor. If the boiler is noisy (knocking or kettling), apply Vitcas Central Heating Boiler Noise Silencer after cleaning.
Dosage: 1 litre of liquid or 1 cartridge of concentrate treats up to 100 litres of system water (approx. 10 standard radiators).
Switch on the boiler and mains water supply and drain down the heating system
Locate the central heating feed and expansion cistern
Shake the bottle thoroughly and pour the full contents into the cistern
Refill the system, restart the boiler and circulation pump
Bleed all radiators to remove trapped air
Allow the system to circulate under normal operation based on the guide below
Quick Clean (New Components): 2 hours (hot circulation)
Fresh Installation (New System): 2 weeks
Previously Treated System: 3 weeks
Older, Sludged System: 4 weeks
After the cleaning period, flush the system thoroughly until the water runs clear. Then refill and treat with Vitcas Central Heating Inhibitor to protect against future build-up.
As an alternative, the cleaner may be added via a partially drained radiator, but the system must still be flushed and refilled afterwards.
Close both radiator valves and remove the bleed screw using a radiator vent key
Insert the supplied plastic adaptor into the bleed port and turn clockwise to ensure a tight fit. Trim the adaptor if needed
Cut off the domed end of the cartridge and attach it to the adaptor using a standard cartridge gun
Open one radiator valve and inject the entire contents into the radiator
Close the valve, remove the adaptor, and replace the bleed screw
Open both radiator valves and bleed the radiator to remove trapped air
Operate the system under normal conditions based on the recommended circulation schedule
After the treatment period, flush the system until the water runs clear. Then refill and add Vitcas Central Heating Inhibitor to ensure long-term protection against sludge, scale, and corrosion.
