Professional-grade creosote & soot remover for flue systems

Vitcas® CFC Chimney & Flue Cleaner is a specialist powder-form cleaning agent engineered for the maintenance of all chimney and flue installations, including stainless steel flexible liners. Formulated for high thermal environments, it delivers effective removal of creosote, tar, and soot build-up, which are common by-products of solid fuel combustion. Its non-corrosive composition ensures safe, long-term use without degrading flue materials or compromising performance.

Key features:

  • Non-corrosive formulation - Chemically stable and safe for use on all flue types, including stainless steel flexible liners

  • Efficient deposit removal - Rapidly dislodges and reduces creosote, soot, and tar accumulations

  • Light brown visibility - Powder's distinctive colour ensures clear identification during application

  • Fire prevention - Regular use minimises flammable deposits, significantly reducing the risk of chimney fires

  • Prolongs flue life - Maintains internal cleanliness, enhancing the operational efficiency of the chimney system

Applications:

  • Suitable for domestic and industrial chimneys and flues

  • Compatible with stainless steel flexible flue liners

  • Designed for use in solid fuel appliances, wood burners, multi-fuel stoves, boilers, and cookers

  • Preventative treatment for routine maintenance and fire risk reduction

Instructions for use:

  1. Ensure that the fireplace, stove, or appliance is cool and free from excess ash or cinders.

  2. Place two scoops of Vitcas® CFC directly onto a low-burning fire. Avoid using on high fires as elevated temperatures may reduce cleaning efficacy.

  3. Allow approximately one hour for the powder to combust fully and interact with the deposit build-up.

  4. For optimum results, apply 2-4 scoops twice per week. Increase frequency if deposits are extensive or persistent.

  5. In large-scale systems (e.g., solid fuel boilers or oversized flues), double the dosage to achieve effective results.

Product Q&A
How do you use this product please
You apply 2-4 scoops of the product twice per week for optimal performance. The scoops have to be put on a fire and subsequently this will cause the fire to vaporise the product into the chimney/flue and this is how the cleaning process works.

Product Q&A

Question
What deposits does this chimney and flue cleaner remove?
Answer
VITCAS CFC Chimney & Flue Cleaner is formulated to dislodge and reduce creosote, tar and soot left by solid-fuel combustion. These deposits can accumulate inside chimneys and flue systems during regular appliance use. Applying the powder routinely helps maintain cleaner internal surfaces and reduces the build-up of flammable material.
Question
Is it suitable for stainless steel flexible flue liners?
Answer
The non-corrosive formulation is suitable for stainless steel flexible liners as well as other chimney and flue installations. This makes it useful where customers need to treat deposits without using a cleaner that could degrade the flue material. Confirm the type and condition of the complete installation before applying any maintenance product.
Question
Which heating appliances can this cleaner be used with?
Answer
The powder is designed for solid-fuel appliances, including wood burners, multi-fuel stoves, boilers and cookers. It can be used in domestic and industrial chimney or flue systems.
Question
How do I prepare the appliance before applying it?
Answer
Begin with the fireplace, stove or appliance cool, then remove excess ash and cinders. Once a low-burning fire has been established, place the required powder directly onto the fire. Do not apply it to a high fire, as excessive temperature may reduce the effectiveness of the cleaning treatment.
Question
How much chimney cleaner should I use?
Answer
Place two scoops directly onto a low-burning fire for an application. For optimum routine treatment, the instructions recommend using 2–4 scoops twice per week, with more frequent applications where deposits are extensive or persistent. Follow the stated dosage rather than adding an unmeasured quantity to the fire.
Question
How long does the chimney cleaning treatment take?
Answer
Allow approximately one hour for the powder to combust fully and interact with the creosote, soot and tar deposits inside the chimney or flue. Maintaining a low-burning fire during treatment supports the intended cleaning action. Avoid using a high fire, as elevated temperatures may make the product less effective.
Question
How should it be used in large flue systems?
Answer
For large-scale installations, such as solid-fuel boilers or oversized flues, the instructions advise doubling the dosage. This provides sufficient treatment for the larger internal area and greater potential deposit build-up.
Question
Does the chimney cleaner require mixing before use?
Answer
The product is supplied as a ready-to-use powder, so it does not need to be mixed with water or another substance. Measure the required number of scoops and place them directly onto a low-burning fire. Keep the powder dry and follow the application instructions rather than preparing it as a liquid cleaner.
