VITCAS Silcas A- Refractory Mortar is a smooth, ready mixed refractory mortar that is perfect for setting and jointing fire bricks. This mortar has a high-temperature rating of 1400°C / 2550°F, making it an excellent choice for use in kilns, furnaces, and other high-temperature applications.
Applications:
- Kiln and Furnace Side Walls: VITCAS Silcas A is widely used in the construction of kiln and furnace side walls, whether using precast refractory shapes or standard fire bricks. Its smooth consistency and high bonding strength make it perfect for ensuring robust and durable joints in high-temperature environments.
- Furnace Roofs: This high-performance mortar is an excellent choice for constructing furnace roofs, especially when using arch bricks. Its high-temperature resistance ensures that the structure maintains integrity, even under extreme heat conditions.
- Kiln Car Bases and Decks: In the brick and ceramics industry, VITCAS Silcas A is commonly used on kiln car bases and decks. Its smooth application and excellent adhesion properties make it ideal for securing bricks and refractory components that endure constant exposure to high temperatures during firing processes.
- General Repair and Maintenance Work: For general refractory repairs, VITCAS Silcas A provides a reliable solution. It is commonly used in the installation and repair of peep-hole blocks, thermocouple tubes, and other critical components in kilns and furnaces. The mortar's ready-mixed formulation makes it quick and easy to apply, allowing for efficient maintenance and repairs.
Instructions:
- Surface preparation: Ensure that the surfaces to be bonded are clean and dry before applying Silcas A. Any loose debris, dirt, or grease should be removed using a wire brush or other suitable tool.
- Mixing: Silcas A is ready-mixed and does not require any additional mixing. However, if the mortar has been standing for some time, it may need to be stirred before use to ensure that it is well-mixed.
- Application: Using a trowel, apply Silcas A to the surfaces that need to be bonded. The mortar should be applied in a smooth, even layer, with enough pressure to ensure good adhesion.
- Curing: Silcas A will cure naturally at room temperature, but for best results, it should be allowed to dry for 24 hours before exposing it to high temperatures. After that, the mortar can be fired to the desired temperature.
Note: Silcas A should be stored in a cool, dry place and kept in its original container with the lid tightly closed to prevent it from drying out.
