Can I put High Temperature Plaster Boards on top of the boards on a dry-lined wall.
Unfortunately they are not intended to be put on top of gypsum plasterboards in this way. The board adhesive is recommended to stick our boards to brick, blocks or stone surfaces.
The stove should be installed with regard to the minimum distance to combustible materials as per the building regulations for Health & Safety reasons.
The high temperature plasterboards will not prevent heat being transmitted to the gypsum boards behind and the gypsum boards will not withstand these high temperatures.
The net result is that the high temperature plaster boards may move away from the boards behind and this leads to this cracking.
We suggest that the gypsum boards be removed in this area immediately behind the stove and the high temperature plasterboards be fixed to the brickwork or blockwork behind. If this is a stud wall then construction board should be used instead of the high temperature plasterboard.
