VITCAS Ceramic Fibre Blanket Insulation is a high-performance, premium-grade thermal insulation solution, designed to endure extreme temperatures of up to 1260ºC (2300ºF). Manufactured from high-quality ceramic fibres, this blanket provides exceptional thermal resistance, making it ideal for both industrial and domestic applications. Frequently used to insulate the exterior of outdoor ovens, it can be placed underneath a protective render coating, ensuring long-lasting performance in high-temperature environments.
Technical Specifications:
Maximum Temperature Resistance: Up to 1260ºC (2300ºF)
Thickness Options: Available in 13mm and 25mm
Width:610mm
Density:128kg/m³ - offers a balance of lightweight insulation and mechanical strength
Key Benefits:
High Tensile Strength: Provides excellent mechanical durability, ensuring long-term stability in harsh environments where insulation materials are subject to vibration or mechanical stress.
Low Thermal Conductivity: Offers superior thermal insulation, minimizing heat loss, which increases energy efficiency in processes or equipment, reducing operational costs.
Good Sound Absorption: The fibre structure not only provides thermal insulation but also helps in damping noise, making it ideal for industrial applications where sound reduction is beneficial.
Thermal Shock Resistance: The material's ability to withstand sudden temperature changes prevents damage during start-up and shutdown processes in industrial settings.
Quick to Repair: Easy handling and quick repair make it cost-effective and suitable for installations that require minimal downtime.
Applications in Various Industries:
Ceramics Industry: Used for kiln insulation, ensuring stable temperatures and energy efficiency during the firing process.
Steel Industry: Ideal for furnace linings, ladle insulation, and heat treatment furnaces, providing protection against extreme heat and prolonging equipment life.
Refining and Petrochemicals: Applied in reactor insulation, catalyst support beds, and heat exchangers, where high-temperature resistance and thermal shock resistance are critical.
Power Generation: Ensures high-performance insulation for boilers, steam turbines, and gas turbines, reducing energy loss and maintaining thermal efficiency.
Fire Protection: Utilised in fireproofing of industrial equipment and structures, offering a thermal barrier that prevents heat from escaping or spreading.
Insulation of Commercial Dryers and Ovens: Provides thermal management and energy efficiency in industrial dryers, curing ovens, and high-temperature processing equipment.
Can the 13mm ceramic fiber blanket be used directly on to a Diesel engine exhaust straight out of the turbo?
Yes, the Vitcas Ceramic Fibre Blanket 1260 C will withstand temperatures far higher than encountered in this situation. We would recommend wrapping it with a glass fibre tape or fiberglass cloth to keep the ceramic fibre blanket in position.
Could this be used as lining for a small forge, used for smelting lead/aluminium/copper? It is likely that it would come into contact with a flame from a burner.
Many thanks.
We recommend using the Ceramic Fibre Blanket around the forge first and then in the centre using the Refractory Castable Grade 1700. The Refractory Castable will prevent the Ceramic Fibre Blanket from coming into contact with the flame.
