Vitcas Insulating Concrete Plinth for Wood-Fired Pompeii Bread/Pizza Ovens – 1000mm wide. Elevates the oven to a more practical height and serves as a solid concrete base for your wood-fired bread and pizza oven.
Vitcas Insulating Concrete Plinth is a heat-resistant base designed for wood-fired bread and pizza ovens. With a width of 1000mm, it is ideally suited for Vitcas Pompeii wood fired ovens, though it can also support custom-built ovens. The plinth raises the oven to a practical height for easier use during cooking.
For optimal performance, it is recommended to incorporate a ceramic insulation board between the plinth and the oven base. This setup forms a sandwich-like structure, where the insulation board improves heat retention and energy efficiency. The ceramic insulation board should be cut slightly smaller than both the plinth and oven base, allowing space for sealing and protection using Vitcas Outdoor Oven Cement. Outdoor Oven Cement helps secure the insulation board and protects it from weather conditions, particularly moisture.
Sealant:Outdoor Oven Cement to seal and protect the edges of the insulation board from weather damage
This configuration enhances thermal performance, ensuring the oven retains heat more effectively while safeguarding the insulation from exposure to wet conditions.
Total Dimensions: 1000 x 1115 x 30mm Comes in 2 Parts: 1000 x 500mm and 1000 x 610mm
Could this be used as a base for a home built BBQ?
I was thinking that I could build the brickwork to hold the grill on top of it using suitable fire bricks. We have built the BBQ base from sandstone stones using drystone walling techniques and I need to be sure that there is enough insulation for it to be safe to use with charcoal. I would very much welcome some advice.
Yes, the Vitcas Wood Fired Oven Plinth may be used as a base for a BBQ and it is safe to use with charcoal.
