VITSET 80 High Alumina Refractory Mortar – Ready Mixed, 1750°C

VITCAS VITSET 80 is a ready-mixed, high-alumina refractory mortar designed for demanding industrial applications at temperatures up to 1750°C / 3180°F. Its air-setting formulation develops a strong bond with compatible refractory bricks and is suitable for bricklaying, jointing, dipping, coating and spraying in high-temperature refractory linings.

Formulated for excellent resistance to molten slag attack, VITSET 80 also exhibits slight thermal expansion at approximately 1540°C / 2800°F, helping maintain tight refractory joints at elevated temperatures. It is particularly suited to steelworks, foundries, pouring ladles and continuous casting tundishes.

Application Guidance

Apply VITSET 80 to suitably prepared refractory surfaces using the method specified for the installation. For bricklaying and jointing, ensure adequate mortar contact and maintain the joint thickness required by the refractory design. For dipping, coating or spraying, use the appropriate product consistency and application procedure.

Allow the mortar to air-set and dry in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions before gradually bringing the refractory lining into service.

Please note: The maximum service temperature of 1750°C applies to the mortar under suitable operating conditions. Refractory brick compatibility, joint design, chemical exposure and the complete lining specification must also be considered.
