Stove Rope Replacement Kits with Adhesive

Stove rope replacement kits combine 2 metres of glass fibre rope with compatible VITCAS RA Rope Adhesive and protective gloves. Black and white versions are available, with diameter options varying by product. These are cut-to-length maintenance kits rather than model-specific, pre-formed gaskets. Confirm the original rope profile and diameter before ordering.

The glass fibre rope is rated to 550°C. The separately published VITCAS RA Rope Adhesive rating is 800°C, but the lower limit of the rope remains the operating limit of the assembled gasket. The adhesive secures the rope in a clean metal channel; it does not compensate for an incorrect rope size, a damaged door, distorted channel, worn latch or unsuitable joint design.

Adhesive-Backed Glass Fibre Tape Packs

Flat white and black glass fibre tape packs contain 2 metres of material for selected stove-glass and heating-appliance gasket arrangements. The glass fibre tape is rated to 550°C continuously and 600°C for short-term exposure. Its pressure-sensitive backing is effective only up to 180°C and is principally used to hold the tape in position during assembly. Where the gasket design requires a durable bond, use compatible rope adhesive or the specified mechanical retention.

Use flat tape only when it matches the original gasket form. If the stove glass is designed to sit against ladder tape, ceramic strip or another proprietary profile, replacing it with a generic flat tape may change glass support and compression. The glass must be retained evenly without being overtightened.

Ceramic Fibre Sealing Strip

Ceramic fibre sealing strip is a white rectangular gasket available in 6mm × 3mm and 10mm × 4mm sections. It is rated to 1260°C and is used between suitable stove panels and between stove glass and the door, where it can accommodate thermal movement of the glass. The strip is not self-adhesive. Some clamped glass arrangements retain it mechanically and require no adhesive; other applications may require a compatible fixing method.

Do not replace glass fibre rope with ceramic strip solely to obtain a higher temperature rating. Profile, resilience, compression, surface pressure and the appliance retention system remain decisive.

How to Choose the Correct Replacement Gasket

Replacing a Stove Rope Seal

Allow the stove to become completely cold and isolate it from use. Remove the old rope and adhesive, then clean the channel back to a sound, dry surface without damaging the door or glass. Measure and trial-fit the new rope before applying adhesive. Position the rope naturally without stretching, twisting or compressing isolated sections. Cut the ends so they meet neatly without a gap or excessive overlap.

Shake and apply the compatible RA Rope Adhesive in accordance with its label, press the rope evenly into the channel and allow the stated setting and curing period before operating the appliance. For glass gaskets, refit clips and screws evenly and do not overtighten them. Follow the stove manufacturer's procedure whenever it differs from these general principles.

After curing, check door closure and gasket contact around the complete perimeter. Inspect the seal again after the first heating cycles. If the door does not close normally, the gasket moves, or smoke or combustion products escape into the room, stop using the appliance and have the installation checked by a competent professional. A replacement gasket is not a substitute for correct stove installation, flue maintenance or a working carbon monoxide alarm.
