Stove Rope Pack contains 2 metres of Vitcas Black Fire Rope, designed for sealing, jointing, and gasketing in high-temperature applications. It is ideal for use around stove doors, in jointing flue systems, or sealing between the stove body and door. Available in diameters from 6mm to 12mm, it withstands temperatures up to 550°C (1020°F). The black fire rope should be fixed with Vitcas Black Heat Resistant Rope Adhesive.
Characteristics:
Suitable for wood-fired and multi-fuel stoves
Heat resistance up to 550°C (1020°F)
Colour: Black
Applications:
Jointing flue systems to stoves and other appliances
Sealing between the stove body and door
Sealing around and inside the stove door or stove glass
Instructions for Using Vitcas Black Fire Rope:
Prepare the Surface: Clean the area around the stove door, flue system, or stove glass to remove any dust, dirt, or old rope.
Measure & Cut: Measure the length of the required fire rope and cut it to size.
The black stove rope is available in diameters from 6 mm to 12 mm. Measure the existing rope or channel carefully and check the stove manufacturer’s instructions. A rope that is too small may not form the required seal, while an oversized rope may prevent the stove door from closing correctly.
Question
Is two metres enough to reseal my stove door?
Answer
Each pack contains 2 metres of black fire rope. Measure the full length of the channel around the stove door or glass before ordering, allowing for accurate trimming. Wider doors, multiple sealing sections or work around a flue connection may require more than one pack.
Question
Why is my replacement stove rope not sealing properly?
Answer
A poor seal can result from selecting the wrong rope diameter, leaving old adhesive or debris in the channel, or failing to press the rope securely into place. Clean the groove thoroughly, fit the correct size and use VITCAS RA Black Heat Resistant Rope Adhesive. Once set, check that the rope forms a consistent seal.
Question
Do I need adhesive to install the black stove rope?
Answer
Yes. The black fire stove rope should be secured with VITCAS RA Black Heat Resistant Rope Adhesive. Apply the adhesive along the cleaned channel or groove, then press the rope firmly into position. Allow the adhesive to set according to its instructions before using the stove.
Question
How should I prepare the channel before fitting new rope?
Answer
Remove the old rope, adhesive residue, dust and loose debris from the stove door, glass channel or flue joint. The replacement rope needs a clean surface so it can sit evenly and bond securely with the VITCAS RA rope adhesive. Measure and test the rope position before completing the installation.
Question
Can this fire rope be used around stove glass?
Answer
Yes. The black stove rope is suitable for sealing around and inside stove doors or stove glass. Select a diameter that matches the appliance’s original seal and make sure the glass and rope channel are clean before fitting. Press the rope evenly into the adhesive without leaving gaps.
Question
Can the fire rope seal a stove or flue connection?
Answer
Yes. The fire rope is suitable for jointing flue systems to stoves and other appliances, as well as sealing between a stove body and door. Confirm that the selected diameter and joint arrangement are appropriate for the appliance, and do not use it where temperatures exceed its 550°C rating.
Question
When can I use the stove after fitting the rope?
Answer
Allow the VITCAS RA black heat-resistant rope adhesive to set fully before operating the stove. Follow the drying or setting instructions supplied with the RA adhesive rather than using an assumed waiting time. Once it has set, check that the rope remains securely positioned and provides an even seal around the joint.
