VITCAS Silcas HP Refractory Hot Patch Repair Compound – 1430°C

VITCAS Silcas HP is a silica-based refractory patching compound developed for high-temperature repairs to coke ovens and non-ferrous foundry equipment. With a maximum service temperature of 1430°C / 2600°F, it is designed for localised repair and sealing of compatible refractory surfaces exposed to demanding industrial operating conditions.

Unlike conventional refractory repair materials that require fully cooled equipment, Silcas HP is formulated for controlled hot patching. Where operating conditions and approved maintenance procedures permit, repairs can be carried out without completely cooling the installation, helping minimise shutdown time and production disruption.

Hot Patching and Application Considerations

Silcas HP is intended for specialist refractory maintenance rather than general-purpose bricklaying or structural reconstruction. Before application, the condition of the existing refractory lining, operating temperature and extent of damage must be assessed to establish whether localised repair is appropriate.

The repair method, surface preparation and permissible application temperature must follow the manufacturer's instructions and the site's approved hot-maintenance procedures. Where refractory deterioration is extensive or the underlying lining has lost stability, replacement or a more comprehensive repair may be necessary.

Please note: Hot patching must only be carried out by suitably trained personnel using approved industrial safety procedures. The 1430°C maximum service temperature is not an instruction to apply the compound at that temperature. Product suitability depends on the substrate, repair conditions and equipment design.
