Acting as both a robust foundation and a height-adjusting base, it raises the oven to a comfortable working level, enhancing ease of use and overall functionality.
For optimal thermal insulation, we recommend creating a "sandwich" setup using Vitcas Ceramic Fibre Insulation Board between the plinth and the oven base. This layer of insulation maximises heat retention, improving oven efficiency. To protect the insulation from weather exposure, apply Vitcas Outdoor Oven Cement around the edges. This ensures durability and resistance to moisture, enhancing the longevity of your oven setup.
Could I use this pizza oven plinth for my oven base without the bricks ie just burn the wood on top of this?
Yes, the VITCAS Casa Pizza Oven Plinth can be used as a pizza oven base. We would recommend putting some ceramic fibre insulation underneath it, e.g. Vitcas Ceramic Fibre Board, and it should be fully supported.

No. For improved thermal insulation, VITCAS recommends placing Ceramic Fibre Insulation Board between the plinth and the oven base to create a layered installation. This helps reduce heat loss beneath the oven and improve efficiency. The complete assembly must remain fully supported by a suitable structural base.

How should the insulation board edges be protected outdoors?
Answer
Apply VITCAS OC Outdoor Oven Cement around the exposed edges of the Ceramic Fibre Insulation Board. This protects the insulation from weather and moisture while helping to create a more durable outdoor installation. The cement is used for edge protection and does not replace the recommended insulation board between the plinth and oven.

Can the plinth be used without a supporting stand?

The plinth must be fully supported by a stable structure capable of carrying the oven, insulation and approximately 50kg plinth weight. At 45mm thick, it is an insulating concrete base rather than a freestanding oven stand. Prepare a solid, level support before placing the plinth and oven components.
