  3. Assemble the base and rings, ensuring everything is secure and level.

  4. ⚠️ Important: To prevent cracking, the first firing must be done gradually. Start with a small fire for a short time and allow the temperature to rise slowly. Only then should you build up to higher temperatures.

Product Q&A

Question
Can the fire pit be installed above ground or in-ground?
Answer
The Precast Concrete Fire Pit supports both installation methods. For an above-ground installation, place the sections on a flat, stable base that can support their weight. An in-ground installation can create a lower-profile garden feature, but the location and surrounding construction must still be suitable for an open fire and kept away from flammable materials.
Question
Which fire pit height should I choose?
Answer
Three configurations are available. The 4-part set has a height of 180mm, the 6-part set is 310mm high and the 8-part set is 460mm high. All versions have a 1 metre external diameter and a 900mm internal diameter. Choose the configuration that suits your installation height, preferred appearance and intended use.
Question
Does the fire pit arrive ready for installation?
Answer
The fire pit is supplied as precast refractory concrete sections. The separate parts make transport and assembly more manageable. They must be positioned on a suitable prepared base and assembled securely and level before use, following the installation and first-firing instructions.
Question
Can this concrete fire pit also be used for cooking?
Answer
Yes. The VITCAS concrete fire pit can provide outdoor warmth and be used for open-fire cooking. Examples include grilling sausages, roasting vegetables, toasting marshmallows and slow-cooking meats or stews. Use appropriate cooking equipment and fuel, follow normal open-fire precautions and allow the structure to cool completely before cleaning or handling it.
Question
How should I light the fire pit for the first time?
Answer
The first firing must be gradual to reduce the risk of cracking. Begin with a small fire for a short period and allow the temperature to rise slowly before progressing to a larger fire. Do not expose the heat-resistant concrete to intense heat immediately during its first use, and ensure the assembled sections are secure and level beforehand.
Question
Can the fire pit be clad with decorative fire bricks?
Answer
The precast structure can be clad with decorative fire bricks or L-shaped fire bricks to create a personalised exterior finish. Any additional materials must be appropriate for the heat-exposed installation and fitted without obstructing the fire pit opening. Account for the extra dimensions and weight when planning the base and surrounding garden area.
Question
How much space does the garden fire pit require?
Answer
The ring sections have a 1000mm external diameter and a 900mm internal diameter, while the base is 1000mm in diameter and 50mm thick. Allow additional clearance around the structure for access, seating and safe operation. Choose a suitable outdoor position away from flammable materials before preparing the installation base.
